Holiday at Home | Adelle from Botaniq

Holiday at Home | Adelle from Botaniq
To Celebrate our new collection, Holiday we’re asking people we admire to share how they have been ‘holidaying at home.’
We have asked them to share some of the things that are bringing them joy during this strange period and where they dream about going when they can travel again.
First up is Adelle, director at Botaniq Haircare.
Introduce yourself! What should we know about who you are, what you do, and where we can find your work online?
Hey there! I’m Adelle Rodda, product formulator and director at botaniq haircare, and part-time hairstylist at Colleen. I’m also doing a research Masters in chemical and material engineering at the University of Auckland. My research is developing bioactive ingredients for skin and hair care from natural resources.
The past 18 months have been really tough. How have you managed your physical and mental wellbeing during this time? Any hot tips for us?
It’s been a real roller coaster but I’ve found that laughing a lot, daily phone calls, running, good wine, food, and cocktails have helped keep me sane.

Our new collection is called ‘Holiday’. While we’re still largely at home, we would love to know how you’re ‘holidaying at home.’

There is an epic backyard where I live, so when the sun is shining we’ve been lying outside listening to good music and drinking bloody Marys. The occasional evening fire has been a great way to escape too .

My Friend Syrus’ Bloody Mary Recipe

45ml Vodka

Juice of 1 Lemon

10ml Jalapeno Brine

A dash of Kaitaia Fire

A couple of dashes of Soy Sauce

Salt and Pepper to taste

Tomato Juice

Combine ingredients and pour over ice.

Garnish with 3 Jalapeno slices, a lemon wedge, a cucumber and ENJOY!

We’re also dreaming of actual holidaying again, both here and overseas. When we can holiday again where are you excited about going and why?
Melbourne. My sister lives there, we are super close and I miss her like crazy!
What’s been your go to at-home self-care activity over the last few moths?
Honey face mask! Raw honey is incredible for your skin. Use mānuka if you can get it, just slather it on to clean, dry skin, leave for 20 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
We'd also Love to know what your favourite piece is from our new range and where you'd see yourself wearing it.
I love the paradise shirt, it looks super versatile. I would wear it to work or in the lab (under lab coat of course) and then could head out straight after (when we are allowed back out!) Love your whole range!
